CB acquires audio books distribution platform Luisterhuis

From the 1st of January onwards audiobook distributor Luisterhuis will be part of CB. The logistics service provider - specialist in the distribution of e-books and physical books - wants to ensure that customers are able to manage and distribute all of their books via one and the same platform. According to CB, this should result in saving time and creating convenience for both publishers and retailers.

CB will take over Luisterhuis' technology and integrate it into its own systems. According to Hans Willem Cortenraad, managing director of CB, the logistics service provider has a proven technology in its hands with this takeover. "This enables us to serve a growth market. Moreover, we are responding to our customers’ clear need: publishers have asked us to provide 'one-stop shopping'.

CB has more capacity in house

Huub van de Pol, director of Icontact (the company that developed Luisterhuis for owner/operator Luisterrijk) also states that the audiobook market is growing faster than ever. "We want the platform to grow and that requires more capacity than we have ourselves. In CB we have found a partner to further shape the growth." Van de Pol also expects audiobook services to be further improved, without the wheel being reinvented.

Name Luisterhuis continues to exist

CB takes over Luisterhuis from Luisterrijk, who launched the platform 9 years ago. Software company Icontact says it will continue to support this technology in the coming period. The name Luisterhuis will remain in existence for the time being, says CB.

First webshop digital audio books

Luisterrijk launched the first Dutch webshop for digital audio books in 2007. In 2010, the company introduced Luisterhuis, a distribution platform that now distributes all Dutch audiobooks (approximately 5,500 titles for over 200 publishers) to all well-known audiobook buyers at home and abroad.
