About CB

CB stands for more than 145 years of experience in logistics services and distribute physical books and e-books, in the shopping street and online in the Netherlands and Belgium. CB also offers logistical solutions for the Healthcare market. With over a 800 professionals, we contribute to the success of our customers every day.

Our history starts in 1871 with the establishment of 'het Bestelhuis van den Nederlandschen Boekhandel' (Order house of the Dutch Bookstore). Prior to that time, bookstores had to write several publishers for their orders and they received their books through all sorts of ways. An inefficient and costly process. 'The Association to promote the importance of Bookshops' took the initiative to found the Order House for central storage, processing and delivery of books. This resulted in a unique logistics solution for the book sector, which still benefits all parties to this day. From 1926 the company was called Centraal Boekhuis and in 1973 it moved from Amsterdam to Culemborg. From 2012 we are also active in the Healthcare sector and Centraal Boekhuis continues under the trade name CB.

We are proud of our partnerships for better service. We work with Printforce in Joint Book Services for our Print on Demand proposition, so books are also always available without stock. Cargo transport is efficient and durable with a good network of carriers. This network includes Audax Media Logistics for excellent cooperation in book and magazine distribution and CityHub for sustainable urban distribution. In addition, CB is business partner of Thuiswinkel.org, the association for retailers in the Netherlands. Business partners of Thuiswinkel.org are the preferred suppliers of the home shopping industry.

Quality is in our genes. This is reflected in our actions and in our service. This quality we can emphasize with various certificates, including ISO 9001, ISAE 3402 (money for goods movement in the media sector) and GDP (Good Distribution Practice) and SEMH (Qualification for medical care) for our Healthcare processes. We also work according to Lean, a proven way of organizing that centers customer value. But the most important quality is in our people; enthusiastic teams who find their challenge with pleasure and commitment at CB. We like to support training and development.
